Pattern Notes
This pattern is worked from the bottom up in one piece until the armholes are reached. The sleeves are knitted separately and joined to the body at the armholes to form a yoke that is decreased down to form a scooped neckline.
Body
Cast on 176 (198, 220, 242, 264, 286, 308) sts and work 4 rows garter stitch (knit every row).
Continue working in st st and place removable markers after 44 and 132, (49 and 149, 55 and 165, 60 and 182, 66 and 198, 71 and 215, 77 and 231) sts to mark the placement of the waist shaping.
Waist Shaping
Waist decreases (RS): *Knit to within 3 sts of marker ssk, k1, sl marker, k1, k2tog*, repeat betn *s, knit to end.
Repeat this row every 6th row 6, (7, 7, 7, 7, 8, 8) times. Work 0, (0, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6) rows even.
Waist increases (RS): *Knit to within 3 sts of first marker M1L, k1, sl marker, k1, M1R*, knit to within 3 stitches of the second marker and repeat betn *s, knit to end.
Cont working even until work measures 13 (14, 14.5, 16, 16.5, 17, 17.5) inches [32.5, (35, 36. 35, 40, 41.25, 42.5, 43.75) ]cm, ending with a WS row.
Armhole shaping (RS): Knit to within 4 (5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7) sts of first marker. Bind off 8 (10, 10, 12, 14, 14, 14) sts, knit to within 4 (5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7) of second marker, bind off 8 (10, 10, 12, 14, 14, 14) sts, knit to end.
Place stitches on a stitch holder or waste yarn while you make sleeves.
Sleeves
Make 2
CO 38 (42, 42, 44, 44, 50, 50) sts and work 4 rows in garter stitch.
Cont working in st st working incs as follows.
Increase 1 st at each end of the next and following 6th (6th, 6th, 5th, 4th, 4th, 4th) row for a total of 17 (18, 20, 24, 28, 29, 31) times. 72, (78, 82, 92, 100, 108, 112) sts. Continue until sleeve measures 15 (15.5, 16, 16.5, 16.5, 17, 17) inches [37.5, (38.75, 40, 41.25, 41.25, 42.5, 42.5)] cm
Shape armholes as follows
Bind off 4 (5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7) sts at beg of next two rows. Place rem sts on a stitch holder or waste yarn.
Yoke
Join sleeves and body and begin yoke as follows
With WS facing, purl across the left front stitches, the stitches of the first sleeve, the stitches from the back of the body, the stitches of the second sleeve, and then the stitches of the right front; 288 (314, 344, 378, 408, 446, 476) sts
Change to contrast color and work 2 rows of garter st, on the third row increase 2 (decrease 4, decrease 4, increase 2, increase 2, increase 4, increase 4) stitches evenly across the body; 290 (310, 340, 380, 410, 450, 480) sts. Work 2 more rows garter st.
Change to main color and work lace chart 1 starting with a WS row 29 (31, 34, 38, 41, 45, 48) times across the yoke.
Change to contrast color and work 2 rows garter st. Next Row: *Knit 4, k2tog, rep from * across row, ending with k2 (4, 4, 2, 2, 0, 0). Knit 2 more rows garter st.
Change to main color, and work lace chart 2 starting with a WS row.
Change to contrast color and work 2 rows garter st. Next Row: *Knit 3, k2tog, rep from * across row. Knit 2 more rows garter st.
Change to main color, and work lace chart 3 starting with a WS row.
Change to contrast color and work 2 rows garter st. Next Row: *Knit 2, k2tog , rep from * across row. Knit 2 more rows garter st.
Bind off all stitches.
Finishing
Using mattress st, sew up the arm seams and then close the small seam left at the under arm. Weave in any loose ends.
Buttonhole band
Using Main color, with RS facing, pick up 95 (97, 103, 111, 113, 115, 117) sts along the edge of the right front opening. Work two rows of garter st.
Next row: work 9 evenly spaced buttonholes as follows.
Size 1: Knit 3, *bind off 1st, k 10. Repeat from * 8 times, knit to end. Knit next row casting on the bound off stitches, using the backward loop method, as you reach them. Knit one more row and then cast off all st.
Size 2: Knit 4, *bind off 1st, k 10. Repeat from * 8 times, knit to end. Knit next row casting on the bound off stitches, using the backward loop method, as you reach them. Knit one more row and then cast off all st.
Size 3: Knit 2, *bind off 1st, k 11. Repeat from * 8 times, knit to end. Knit next row casting on the bound off stitches, using the backward loop method, as you reach them. Knit one more row and then cast off all st.
Size 4: Knit 2, *bind off 1st, k 12. Repeat from * 8 times, knit to end. Knit next row casting on the bound off stitches, using the backward loop method, as you reach them. Knit one more row and then cast off all st.
Size 5: Knit 3, *bind off 1st, k 12. Repeat from * 8 times, knit to end. Knit next row casting on the bound off stitches, using the backward loop method, as you reach them. Knit one more row and then cast off all st.
Size 6: Knit 4, *bind off 1st, k 12. Repeat 8 times, knit to end. Knit next row casting on the bound off stitches, using the backward loop method, as you reach them. Knit one more row and then cast off all st.
Size 7: Knit 5 *bind off 1st, k 12. Repeat from * 8 times, knit to end. Knit next row casting on the bound off stitches as you reach them, using the backward loop method. Knit one more row and then cast off all st.
Button band
Using Main color, with RS facing, pick up 95 (97, 104, 111, 112, 115, 117) sts along the edge of the left front opening. Work five rows of garter st. Bind off all sts.
Block garment to measurements shown in the schematic, sew on buttons.
